“This collaboration is a perfect example of the best industrial design and technology coming together to enhance 4G, data and digital experience for Idea customers,” said Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular.

To recall, Idea Cellular offers 40GB data per month along with unlimited local and national calls, free roaming 3000 local and national SMS with its Nirvana 499 Postpaid plan. With prepaid recharge of Rs 199, Idea Cellular subscribers get 1.4GB data per day, unlimited local and national calls, free roaming and 100 local and national SMS for 28 days.

OnePlus 6 is expected to be the most powerful smartphone yet from the Chinese startup. It is rumored to feature a 6.28-inch display with a cut out similar to that of iPhone X. OnePlus has already confirmed that the smartphone will feature a glass back and will be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. The smartphone is also expected to launch in Marvel Avengers edition offering 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage.

There is not much clarity on its camera features just yet but the company CEO has teased camera samples indicating new features. The OnePlus 6 leaks so far suggest repositioned alert slider and a retail price that might make it the most expensive OnePlus smartphone yet.

  • Effective 1st April 2016, SBI has been directed by RBI to fix its loan interest rates benchmarked to MCLR rate which is based on its marginal cost of funds. Earlier, the bank fixed its loan interest rates to Base Rate, which was based on total cost of funds of the bank. SBI MCLR rates for different tenors range from 7.80% to 8.35%.
  • RBI allows banks to set their own MCLR Rate based on their marginal cost of funds which means the cost of raising new funds for the bank. So, SBI decides and announces its MCLR rate regularly based on prescribed formula and policy rate changes by RBI in its monetary policy.
  • Note that the RBI does not decide the MCLR Rate of any bank. RBI only announces the repo rate, which influences the cost of raising new funds for the bank. Banks may or may not decide to change their MCLR rate in response to changes in the repo rate. For instance, SBI may decide to bring a lower cut in their MCLR rate compared to a Repo Rate cut. If RBI cuts the repo rate by 50 basis points or 0.5%, SBI may decide to cut its 1 Year MCLR rate only by 0.25% based on its internal funding and liquidity position. Hence, it is important to compare the MCLR rate change of SBI with that of RBI Repo Rate and MCLR Rate changes of other banks before taking a decision to take a loan from SBI.
  • MCLR rate can be revised by SBI every month. However, it is not mandatory for SBI to revise its rate every month and it may choose to retain the same rate for a longer period keeping them unchanged.

SBI Home Loan Interest Rate and MCLR

  • Every floating rate loan sanctioned by SBI is benchmarked to its MCLR Rate for a particular tenure, say 1 month or 3 month or 6 months.
  • Shorter duration loans such as cash credit, OD facility, personal loans are linked to short tenure MCLR rate while longer duration loans such as home loan, loan against property, vehicle loan are linked to longer duration MCLR rates.
  • The applicable rate of interest on a floating rate loan will consist of two parts – the applicable benchmark rate and the spread or margin above the benchmark.
  • Your loan from SBI will be repriced periodically depending upon the tenure of the MCLR to which it is linked. SBI home loan rate is benchmarked to 1 Year MCLR Base Rate which will be repriced after 1 Year. Say, you take a loan from SBI at current 1 Year MCLR rate of 8.15% plus spread of 20 bps. So, the loan will initially be priced at 8.35%. Its next re-pricing will be done after 1 Year from now. If the 3 Month MCLR rate after 1 Year increases by 10 bps, the loan will be priced at 8.45% for the next period.

Fake voter ID cards: Parties point fingers at one another

Cong committed many such sins: PM Modi
Referring to the voter ID cardsfound in a flat in RR Nagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed fears that Congressmay have created lakhs of fake voter ID cards to win this assembly election. “Beside these fake ID cards, a voter list containing lakhs of names was also found along with printers and computers. These belonged to those constituencies where voters strength is in lakhs. The impact of one lakh vote in a four lakh voter constituency is huge and the Congress was trying to do this. People must never forgive such a Congress government which is indulging in this kind of dangerous game of politics,” he said. Modi claimed two big steel boxes containing voter slips were also seized and said it is anybody’s guess how many such “paap” (sins) were committed by Congress. Union minister Prakash Javdekar demanded that the election commission“countermand” the RR Nagar polls. “The EC must ensure the owner of the building, Manjula Nanjamari, is arrested immediately and a detailed probe be undertaken,” he added. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed Manjula was a former BJP member and had nothing to do with the party now.

Probe Javadekar, Kumar role: Congress

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala urged the EC to probe the role of Union ministers Prakash Javadekar and HN Ananth Kumar in the voter ID cards case. Describing the incident as a part of a concerted conspiracy by BJP to divert the attention of people, Surjewala urged the EC to file an FIR against BJP candidate from RR Nagar segment and also others involved in the fraud. Surjewala also said the EC should take note of Modi’s statement with regard to the voter ID cards. “It need to be examined as to how Modi has the knowledge of the entire issue and what is the role of BJP top leadership in the fraud,” he said.

JD(S) strongholds targeted: HD Kumaraswamy

JD(S) has lodged a request with the Election Commission to countermand RR Nagar election. Party spokesperson and MLC Ramesh Babu has claimed in the complaint that the incumbent MLA from the segment has 30,000 original and duplicate voter ID cards in his possession. Earlier, campaigning in Badami, party state president HD Kumaraswamy said that RR Nagar was not the only constituency seeing such large-scale fake voter ID cards and manipulations. “Wherever JD(S) is strong, such segments are witnessing manipulation. In Chamundeshwari, villages strongly in favour of JD(S) are being removed from the voters list in connivance with the returning officer. As many as 10,000 voters’ names from these villages have been deleted,” he said.

Pension can’t be denied for want of Aadhaar card

Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has released an official circular stating to all heads of pension disbursing banks and postal services yesterday, listed out alternate mechanism of handling pensioners who do not possess Aadhaar or those whose identity cannot be authenticated due to wear out of finger print.
EPFO has asked banks not to
deny monthly pension to people for want of biometric national ID, Aadhaar card, and said that alternate means for identification should be used if needed. The Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), in a circular to all heads of pension disbursing banks and postal services yesterday, listed out alternate mechanism of handling pensioners who do not possess Aadhaar or those whose identity cannot be authenticated due to wear out of finger print. It asked banks to ensure that pensioners are facilitated for Aadhaar enrolment and a paper life certificate is accepted, in place of a digitally generated one, for pensioners who have enrolled for Aadhaar. For those whose finger print wear out has made authentication difficult, banks will make provisions for IRIS scanner along with the fingerprint scanner in bank branches, it said.
EPFO said the agreement it signed with banks for disbursement of pension lays down the duties and responsibilities of banks including collection of Life Certificate/Non-re-marriage certificate in November every month from pensioners and forwarding the same to EPFO field offices for necessary action. Concerned branches of the banks were doing this by collecting Life Certificate in paper form. But since 2016, the Life Certificates are being obtained from the pensioners digitally as Jeevan Pramaan in place of the Life Certificate in paper form being submitted by the pensioners to the bank earlier.

Submission of Jeevan Pramaan digitally has been facilitated through UMANG APP in the mobile phones also. “Some complaints have been received from pensioners who are being turned away and denied pensions for want of Aadhaar or Aadhaar fingerprint authentication

not being successful due to poor fingerprint of the beneficiary or due to network/ connectivity or other technical reasons. Because of this, pensioners are not able to get and submit Jeevan Pramaan,” the circular said.
For giving pension to the pensioners who cannot get and submit Jeevan Pramaan on account of not possessing Aadhaar, EPFO asked banks to ensure that such pensioners are facilitated for Aadhaar enrolment. “Banks should also make special arrangement for the bed-ridden, differently abled, or senior citizens who are unable to visit the Aadhaar involvement Centre,” it said.
Till such time Aadhaar is assigned to such pensioners, a paper life certificate may be accepted after collecting Aadhaar enrolment application receipts from such pensioners. “After due verification through alternate identification documents as deemed necessary by the bank, pensions may be disbursed,” it said. An entry with necessary details such as paper life certificate, Aadhaar enrolment application receipts and the like may be recorded “in an exception register which should preferably be maintained in an electronic form”. It said.
For giving pension to the pensioners whose fingerprint authentication fails for any reason, EPFO asked banks to may make provisions for IRIS scanner along with the fingerprint scanner in bank branches. “It has been observed that in many cases IRIS authentication is successful even though finger print authentication may have failed. This is particularly true for many senior citizens. In such cases, digital life certificate may be generated on the basis of IRIS authentication and pension may be given,” it said
In case where finger print or IRIS authentication is not feasible for any reason, an entry should be made in the exception register with reasons and pension may be provided on the basis of paper life certificate and physical Aadhaar card or E-Aadhaar card of the pensioner after due verification as deemed fit by the bank. “The exception register which would contain the details of exception granted alongwith paper life certificate, Aadhaar number or Aadhaar enrolment ID etc, maybe reviewed and audited periodically by senior management of the bank,” the circular said.

Provident Fund Portal Hacked, 2.7 Crore People Face Data Theft

The personal and professional details of about 2.7 crore members registered with the retirement fund body Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) have been exposed to data theft.

In a letter to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner has written that hackers have stolen data from the Aadhaar seeding portal of EPFO. He has also asked the ministry’s technical team to plug vulnerabilities on the portal aadhaar.epfoservices.com that has now been temporarily shut. The portal links the Aadhaar number of employees with their provident fund accounts.

In the letter marked “secret”, the commissioner wrote that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) had informed them of “hackers exploiting the vulnerabilities prevailing in the website (aadhaar.epfoservices.com) of EPFO.”

Details of the scale of the breach are not known but the website contains information like the names and addresses of EPF subscribers besides their employment history.

“Each person contributes 12% of salary as provident fund, so salary details could also have been stolen. Also the bank account numbers as people tend to withdraw their PF,” said cybersecurity expert Anand Venkatnarayan.

Hackers exploiting vulnerabilities, EPFO commissioner wrote to the government

A total of 114 government websites were hacked between April 2017 and January 2018, the Ministry of Electronics and IT told Lok Sabha in March.

The head of the Computer Emergency Response team of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, when contacted by NDTV, remained unavailable.

The body that governs Aadhaar, UIDAI, has clarified that it has nothing to do with the alleged data breach from aadhaar.epfoservices.com. “This matter does not pertain at all to any Aadhaar data breach from UIDAI servers. There is absolutely no breach into Aadhaar database of UIDAI. Aadhaar data remains safe and secure,” it said.

Aadhaar isn’t Mandatory for New Mobile Connections – Government

Customers can now get new SIM Cards without Aadhaar which is said to be priority till date and now can issue with other documents like election voter ID or driving licence and the government will await Supreme Court’s order on re-verification of mobile subscribers using Aadhaar at a later date.
Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan told
” As per rule, fresh connections can be given using any authentic ID and address proof. There is no change in that rule. Telecom operators cannot deny fresh SIM to people having valid ID and address proof document. For re-verification, we have to wait for Supreme Court order as the matter is sub-judice”
Department of Telecom (DoT) had earlier extended the deadline for re-verifying mobile numbers through Aadhaar, till the time the apex court takes a view on the petitions challenging the constitutional validity of Aadhaar and its enabling law.
DoT’s circular issued on March 23, 2017 says “The subscriber acquired through proof of identity/ proof of address documents based process, during the period of this re-verification activity shall also be re-verified through e-KYC process. For this, the licencee at the time of issuing connection to such subscribers, shall intimate the subscribers about this re-verification activity”

This app connects you to blood-donors with just a click!

This is the huge gap in India when it comes to blood donation, and undoubtedly it’s a major bottleneck for the medical world.

Now, Chennai-based MBLOOD, a start-up, is trying to fill this gap by creating a platform where recipients can contact blood donors directly.

The location-based, ‘on-request’ app is designed on the Ola-Uber model.

Losing someone close gave the founder a new direction

The idea didn’t come out-of-the-blue to Sushil Lalwani.

He lost a close relative in 2017, due to unavailability of blood bags “despite the fact that he had necessary resources,” shared Lalwani.

That’s when he realized that there are many like him who has lost their kin due to blood scarcity.

He launched MBLOOD in January’18 and within a month, there were 10,000 registered users.

'Shelling out Rs. 2,000 for each blood-unit is expensive affair'

Founder says‘Shelling out Rs. 2,000 for each blood-unit is expensive affair’

Lalwani’s research before launching the project revealed that acquiring blood from the blood banks is an expensive affair, with each bag costing a person Rs. 2,000.

Also, blood starts degenerating long before the prescribed six-week preservation limit and that blood, if infused in a patient, can be dangerous.

Hence, million units of blood get wasted, and that’s a colossal loss, said Lalwani.

ProcessPerson given three months to recover after a blood-donation session

That’s where MBLOOD, available on Android, comes in, with its database of 2,100 registered blood-banks.

Lalwani explained that when someone posts a requirement, the willing donor’s details are shared with the recipient.

“Once a user donates blood, they aren’t contacted for three months,” he added.

More than 27,000 users within just four months speak volumes about the dearth of blood on demand.

AmbitionLalwani aims to build network of 1M users by 2018

Unsurprisingly, 60% of MBLOOD users belong to semi-urban and rural areas, like Bellary, Darbhanga, Gadag, Guntur and Sonipat.

Recently, Lalwani managed to raise Rs. 50L from SPPLJ Charitable Trust to be able to “build a network of 1M registered users” by December’18, after which he plans to take MBLOOD across the borders.

Since it’s a not-for-profit organization, its growth depends a lot on word-of-mouth.
